Pointe-á-Raquette Relief
Program
In February 1996, the Haitian Parliament appealed to NOAH and
asked for its assistance in addressing the water pollution crisis
in Pointe-á-Raquette, La Gonâve. In response, NOAH and the Haitian-Americans
for Economic Development (HAFED) formed the NOAH/HAFED Pointe-á-Raquette
Relief Coalition (PARRC) and joined with 14 other organizations
to respond to the water and health emergency situation which
had reached a critical level. As one of the two leading organizations
in the Coalition, NOAH's primary role is to continue to access
the public policy, political, and socio-economic leadership
in the Haitian and U.S. government, and coordinate their efforts
with those of independent.
